About

This blog was created in August 2017 by Rev. Frank Van Der Korput, a Minister of the Uniting Church in Australia (ordained 1992) and an  Aged Care Chaplain with UnitingCare/Uniting since July 2009. I have a Bachelor of Computing Studies (1982), Bachelor of Theology (1992), Masters of Chaplaincy (2010), and a Diploma of Dementia Care through the University of Tasmania (2018). I am a Certified Advanced Member of Spiritual Care Australia, as well as a member of the NSW College of Clinical Pastoral Education, Dementia Australia, and the Australian Association of Gerontology.

God has explicitly called me to be “a bearer of hope and joy“. I represent this by signing the name “Frank” followed by a cross and a smiley: hope in the cross of Christ, and joy with a smiley! Within Aged Care I aim to help people “to live well and to die well”.

This site is dedicated to my mother Rita, who courageously journeyed with vascular and Lewy Bodies dementia. Though her brain and body deteriorated her spirit was whole and well and strong.

Deepest blessings, always,
